Gerald Sheldon Lindeman (Gerry), 86, Davie, left us peacefully on July 6th, 2016 while resting comfortably at his home in Davie, Florida. A celebration of Gerry's life will be held on Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at Fred Hunter Funeral Home at 2401 S University Drive, Davie, FL 33324 beginning with visitation at 4 pm, and a service at 5pm. Pastor Bob, of Potential Church will be officiating. A depression era baby, Gerry was born on March 23, 1930, to Howard and Violet (Lindstrand) Lindeman in Rockford, Illinois. As a youth, Gerry and his family resided with his paternal Grandparents. He was the first in his family to attend college, graduating from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. After serving as a schoolteacher, Gerry began his thirty-two (32) year management career with AT&T. He married and raised two children, Jeff and Vickie. He and his young family primarily resided in suburban Chicago and in New Jersey. Together they cheered for da Bears, enjoyed working around the house together, and vacationing in the summer. fter his divorce and retirement, Gerry began a new chapter, relocating to South Florida, and meeting the love of his life, Dorothy, at a local choir group. Together they toured Europe with the Choir Group, and married in January 31, 1987. Gerry and Dorothy made their home in Davie, Florida sharing their ardor for NFL Sundays and passion for exploring the world via road trips, extensive cruises and excursions. In his retirement, Gerry touched the lives of many, serving as a Funeral Assistant for grieving families. During Dorothy and Gerry's advanced years, they committed to aging with grace in their Davie home. Gerry embraced his role as a surrogate father to Dorothy's youngest daughter, Melissa. Gerry shared equally in Dorothy's joy of being a grandparent to Deanna and Jake, who lived nearby. He beamed with pride when sharing the latest happenings of his children, Jeff and Vickie, and their children and grandchildren, who lived a plane ride away. Gerry is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy; his children Jeff Lindeman (Nancy), Liberty, UT; Vickie Victor (Michael) Orlando, FL; her children: Maria Rubin (Alan), Surfside, FL; Martin Tori (Liz), Walpole, MA; and Melissa Tori, Pembroke Pines, FL. Seven grandchildren: Kristen Lindeman, Hillary Hopson, Evan Lindeman (Jeff); Melissa Victor, Matthew Victor, Jennifer Victor (Vickie); Deanna Rubin, Jake Rubin (Maria); Matthew Tori (Martin). Four great grandchildren: Oliver Hopson, Jude Hopson, Margot Hopson (Hillary), and Wyatt Victor (Vickie). Sibling: Nadine Feller, Waynesville, NC.
