William "Bill" A. Swenson

MADISON Bill Swenson passed away on Saturday July 16, 2016 at his home in Madison following a brief illness. He was 64 years old. Bill was born on January 31, 1952 in Stoughton, WI to William and Dorsay (Dybevik) Swenson. He married Cheri Anderson at their Madison home on June 6, 1981. They had one son, Eric Swenson. Bill's uncles introduced him to music at an early age and established a life-long love of playing, listening to and sharing music with others. Bill learned the meaning of work at Stoughton's Chose Family A&W and carried that work ethic with him throughout his 32 year career as an Activity Therapist mainly at the Badger Prairie Healthcare Center. He approached the residents with compassion and respect and was most proud of his ability to bring his gift of music into so many lives. Bill was preceded in death by his grandmother Irene Swenson and aunt Nancy Swenson; two special people who greatly influenced his philosophy of life. He was also preceded in death by his father Bill and uncles Greg and Pete Swenson. Bill enjoyed many things but his passion was his family. Bill's passing will leave a hole in the lives of his mother Dorsay, his siblings Kim (Jon), Steve (Karen), Dedria, Deena and Mike (Kim) and his extended family and friends. A celebration of Bill's life will be held in the fall. Because music was such a large part of Bill's life, memorials can be made in his name to the Madison Area Music Association (themamas.org) whose mission is to help fund youth music programing throughout the area.
