Maurine Ann (Rainey) Schiller 42 of Carmel, IN passed away peacefully Sunday night (July 24, 2016) surrounded by loved ones after a five-year battle. She fought this battle fiercely on her own terms, struggling through crippling pain to provide all of her loved ones with uncountable warm memories and laughter. "May her death relieve her pain and give her joy and peace. We will not see her with our eyes but we will feel her with our hearts." Maurine, or "Muffy" as her family called her, was a devoted mother of three, friend of hundreds, wife, volunteer, and care-giver. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Carmel, IN where she managed the Meals for Families in Crisis ministry for many years. Maurine is survived by her husband Stephen Schiller, two sons Samuel and Timothy, daughter Grace, and constant canine companion, Cosmo. Maurine is also survived by her father Timothy Rainey (St. Charles, IL), mother Susan M. Sturdevant (Willoughby, OH), brother Major General James Rainey (Hinesville, GA), and sister Alicia Della Volpe (Cleveland, OH). on to study at Miami of Ohio University in Oxford, Ohio where she met her husband. After college, Maurine and Stephen moved to Indianapolis, IN where they started their future. Maurine worked for many years as a technical writer for Software Artistry and other software companies. After that, she focused on raising her three beautiful children. Maurine also successfully nursed her husband through a life-threatening illness. Maurine loved to cook and nourish her family and friends. She taught her children to pray and eat vegetables. Maurine also loved all things Irish. She enjoyed laughing with friends and, strengthening her faith. Above all, hers was a selfless life devoted to others. She was an incredible and unique woman and who lead a rich life. Friends and family will gather for visitation on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
