his years of service in 1961 with the rank of Captain. As a community leader, Dudley served on the Carson-Macedonia School Board, was Mayor of Carson, and served on the Pottawattamie County Board of Review for many years. Throughout his life he farmed, did carpenter work, and managed the Oakland Lumber Yard. Dudley and Shirley owned and operated the D & S Trading Post, a combination general store, hardware store, and soda fountain. Dudley worked with his son, Bob, in the construction and real estate development company, R & D Ventures. Dud and Shirley were members of the Community of Christ Church in Carson. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, and American Legion. Dud's greatest joy was spending time with his family. Dudley was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his loving wife Shirley. He is survived by his daughter, Diana, and husband John Prigge, of Des Moines; son, Bob, and wife Colleen, of Macedonia; 5 grandchildren: Dave Shidler, Matt Wilber, and wife, Lisa; Collette Kono and husband Dana; Tara Wang and husband Ed; Mark Prigge and wife Tina; 12 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Jack Fox; sisters-in-law, Gloria Peterson and Virginia Knudsen; other relatives and many friends.
