John "Jack" Allen DeHague

Mr. John Allen "Jack" DeHague, 69, of Burlington died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 29, 1947 in Burlington, he was the son of Jack A. and Edith M. (Fraise) DeHague. On September 7, 1974 he married Cindy Marshall in Burlington. Mr. DeHague was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1979 graduate of SCC with a degree in history. He was a Vietnam Air Force veteran serving as a jet engine mechanic. Mr. DeHague worked at Sunshine Dairy and then for 36 years at Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter of everything, especially mushrooms, ducks, geese and deer. He enjoyed watching and reading westerns and history. Survivors include his wife, Cindy L. DeHague of Burlington; two sons, Bryon (Missy) Chenoweth and Ryan DeHague both of Burlington; three daughters, Natalie (Nathan) Steffener of Sperry, Amanda DeHague (Anthony Harris) of Burlington and Angie Titus Mortvedt of Spokane, Washington; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry DeHague of Denver, Colorado; four sisters, Victoria Lynn Starr ...[more]

Bryon, Texas, Karen Swank of New London, Marla Ann Crane of Marshalltown and Carol Jean Anderson of Marengo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two twin brothers, one brother, Steve DeHague; one sister, Judy Taylor; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Swank and Bob Crane. Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. Sunday, August 7th, at Lunning Chapel. The Christian Wake Service will be at 4:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. DeHague will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 8th, at SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church. Rev. Father Marty Goetz will be the celebrant. The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir will provide music. The Des Moines County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites. Inurnment will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials have been established for SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, Great River Hospice and Des Moines County Conservation. Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and will be accorded following the Mass of Christian Burial.
