Esther Glenn Artley, 90, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. She was born on November 19, 1925, in Union, Iowa, to David Cleveland and Mary Elizabeth (McCracken) Glenn. Esther graduated from Union High School and Ellsworth College. She was united in marriage to Daniel Charles Artley on December 19, 1948. Esther taught school in Zearing for two years before moving to Hampton where she taught first grade for three years; then after several years home with her children she became a teacher's aide in the special education program for a number of years. In later years Esther worked as a nurse's aide for Franklin General Nursing Home in Hampton. Esther was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church, where she was part of several church circles. She enjoyed doing crafts, painting, sewing, embroidery, reading, baking, and swimming with the group at the Wellness Center.
