Robert Richard (Bob) Coopman Robert Coopman, 92, of Hollywood, FL, passed away Friday morning, September 30, 2016 after a short illness. The visitation will be held Sunday, October 9, from 2-4pm with a service at 2:30 p.m. at Fred Hunters Funeral Home, 6301 Taft St., Hollywood, FL. A funeral Mass will be held at Monday, October 10, at 10am at Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood, FL. Bob was born in 1924 in Moline, IL., son of Carl and Mary Coopman. Bob is preceded in death by his much loved wife of 63 years, Teresa May Coopman, his parents, brothers Carl and Eugene Coopman and child number six, Michael Eugene Coopman. Bob served with the US Navy from 1943-1946. Among other ships, Bob was a Signalman, 2nd class US Navy on the LST117 and landed in Japan with a complement of Marines aboard, two weeks after the surrender. He was later Commissioned an Officer. After military service Bob attended University of IL in Champaign / Urbana graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. On June 21, 1952 Bob married Teresa May Stohl in Colona, IL. nd finally Hollywood FL. After early work measuring the Great Lakes in MI with the Army Corp of Engineers, Bob joined the IRS as a Valuation Engineer. While in Detroit, he also worked part time teaching math at Macomb College. Once retired Bob loved golf, tennis, playing cards and singing. In his later years he could be found at the YMCA five times a week, working out and 'shooting the breeze' with fellow patrons. Bob was a wonderful father, husband and friend and he will be remembered lovingly by all who knew him. Bob is survived by his children Donna Coopman and Mary Coopman, Hollywood, Teresa (Luis) Albuerne, Houston, TX, Robert (Chai Chien) Coopman, Hollywood, Gregory (Mai) Coopman, Arlington, TX; and 7 grandchildren.
