EVELYN FAITH ROWAN JONES,

age 92, was born February 25, 1909 in Klawock, Alaska to James Rowan and Lucy Snook. She passed away July 6, 2001 in Anchorage, Alaska.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Darlene T. Couvillion of Seattle, WA; three sons: Paul E. and wife Maria BrooksJones of Anchorage, Alaska; Arnold F. and wife MarlysJones of Seattle, WA; Jerome R. Jones of Anchorage, Alaska; and her daughter Arlene B. McCusker of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by a daughter Pauline G. Roath and a son Donald J. Jones.

She graduated from Chemawa Indian School in Oregon. She met her future husband Harold Cornelius Jones while at Chemawa. After graduating she returned to Alaska to live with her aunt and relatives. Later, she and Harold were married and lived in Petersburg, AK. They later lived in Hoonah, where Harold owned a shipyard. In her golden years, she lived in California, Petersburg, and Anchorage.

fondly remembers her gift for storytelling, singing along to the Oldies, and eating her favorite native foods. In 1994 she returned to Anchorage to live with her son Paul, where she especially enjoyed sightseeing in the Anchorage area.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park near the Totem Pole Friday, July 13, 2001, beginning at 2:00pm.

Memorial donations preferred to go to the Alzheimers Association.
