I married my ''Honey'' on Dec 31, 1945 in Caro, GA over 55 ? years ago. We lived in Miami until 1946. After moving to Seattle, WA, we decided that was home. We worked together to build our home and raise our family. Our secret was we loved each other and put Christ as the center of our lives. The joy that you brought our children and everyone whom you met. Your wisdom and trust in God encouraged me so many times. My honey, you have fought a good fight and you kept the faith. Our love kept me by your side through sickness and health. Now, you rest my honey and I will meet you at heaven's gates where we will be together for eternity.
Our Mother: ''Mom''
A mother with so many sons and daughters you have raised to love God. A mom with so much wisdom to: Chester, Bette, Larry and Terry. You knew how to care for each of us according to our individual personalities and needs. The many times you said you would just whisper a little prayer to God if you needed to hear from one of us, and the phone would ring. We remember the walking from store to store until you found the perfect Easter and Christmas outfit for each of us.
We cannot forget the picnics. You would stay up late fixing fried chicken, potato salad, watermelon and the coconut cake. How can we forget' The many times we got out of our beds for the preacher and the saints during the church conventions and revivals, we will not forget. You told us God would bless us for making room for his people. Mom you taught us well. You taught us to share our parents and our home. Joan, Jackie, and Pat will never forget you. Now we have become productive adults with our own families. Thank you mom. Our love and memories of you will never die.
Our Grandmother: ''Grandmommy''
The many dinners, the kisses and the hugs we will never forget. The times you babysat we enjoyed, because you let us stay up late, even sleep in your bed. Oh the many times you would tell us ''Go straight and wash your hands'' how can we forget. Yes, you were grandmother to many children? but you were Grandmommy to Jeanne, James, Jr., Damon, Donika and Tresa. Now we are starting to raise our own children. No, you did not get to meet Taylor, Sidney, Kennedy; Myles, Myron and Donovan, but they will know you! We will keep the pictures before them and most of all we will pass on the wisdom and love of God you gave to us.
''A Servant of God''
''My Child'', You knew at a young age your life was not complete. You accepted me into your life over 60 years ago. You took my hand and refused to let go.
''Usher''
You ushered others into my sanctuary for over 40 years. Now I will take your hand and usher you into my eternal presence. I have prepared a special place for you. You are going where there are no strokes. I am going to wipe all your tears away. Now, was it not worth it'
''Woman Leader and Missionary''
At the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, where Bishop E.F. Morris was presiding, you taught women from all over the country how to be a woman of God. You taught young women how to be wives and mothers. Single women how to keep themselves, and how to stay in their place. In the 50's and 60?s, delegates would come from all over the country to the Full Gospel Pentecostal Convention. Mother Northington would be in charge of placing the saints in the different homes. Making sure the delegates would eat, she would cook her specialty: greens, fried chicken and pound cake. She would tell her family to ''Make room for God's people.'' So many times the preacher or evangelist would come to town for a revival. The pastor would call Dec. and Mother Northington. They would open their doors. God truly blessed their home. Mother Northington along with Dec. Northington moved their membership to the Seed of Abraham Pentecostal Church after the death of Bishop E. F. Morris.
Mother Northington served there for over 35 years. Mother Northington worked wherever she saw a need. She served faithfully on the Deaconess Board, President of the Mothers Board, President of the Women's Dept., Member of the Usher Board, and a faithful Sunday school member. When Mother Northington took sick she still had a desire to work for the Lord. Her daughter would send her boxes of cards and stamps, she would send out Get Well cards and cards of Encouragement to people all over the country. Mother Northington you rest with God. Your works and teachings will speak through the lives of many you have touched.
To cherish her memory she also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and many friends.
We loved you but God loved you so much more.
