Maxine Marie Payne

Mickey was born in 1920 in Omaha Nebraska. The family moved to Yakima Washington and she briefly attended high school there. The family then returned to Omaha before World War II. Mickey went on to become a telephone operator. She was then given the opportunity to compete in the Miss Nebraska beauty pageant or travel to Ketchikan, Alaska to join her brother Bob. She chose the "big adventure" as she called it and went to Ketchikan. Within 3 days she met and became engaged to the love of her life, Douglas Payne. Shorty after they married and started a family....3 boys, Stephen, Bradley and R. Gregory. Summers were spent in Ketchikan and winters were spent in the Seattle area. Mickey loved her 3 boys and once they were grown she and Doug traveled the world. Often spending the winters in Palm Springs with their friends. She was preceded in death by her husband's passing in 2001.[more]
