Robert Loy Sours

Robert Loy Sours, Sr. was born in Anoka, MN, November 30,1918, to Grover Cleveland Sours and Ada Norell Sours. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail, of 55 years in 1997, his sister Eleanor M Sampson in 2004, and his friend and companion Wilma Kimble, in 2005. He is survived by his son, Robert L Sours, Jr. and his wife, Bobby Frost Sours, his daughter, Patricia Rogers and her husband, Thomas Rogers, and his son, David Sours and his wife, Shirlee Sours. Robert had five grandchildren, Rob and Jeff Sours, Thomas and Ryan Rogers, and Kendall Sours. He also had seven great-grandchildren: Mia and Dylan Rogers, Emmerson, Ava, and Max Sours, and Cooper and Peyton Rogers, as well as a niece and several nephews Bob and his parents moved to New Zealand in 1924, where they lived for a year and his sister was born. In 1925, they moved to Sydney, Australia, where they lived until 1931 and there Bob attended Cranbrook School. The family settled in Seattle in 1931 where Bob went to work for Peoples National Bank in 1938. In 1942, Bob was inducted into the USAAF. sent to a base in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) for 15 months. Upon return to the US at the end of the war he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant and returned to work at Peoples Bank. He retired in 1979. Bob was an avid sportsman and athlete. He played cricket, soccer, rugby, swimming, body surfing and tennis while in Australia. He skied and sailed while in the Northwest.
