Charles Robert Hough

Charles Hough, after a full and eventful life of 90 years went to his eternal home on August 27, 2008. He was born in Taylorsville, KY on July 20, 1918, the son of William D. and Christine Hough. He received his education in Louisville, obtaining economics and law degrees from the University of Louisville and being admitted to the Bar after a total of 5 years. In 1941 he joined the Air Force and became a navigator on a B-17 based in England. After the War, he returned to KY, and in 1946, married Ramy Newland, his wife of 61 years. In KY he practiced Law, was active in local politics and the community, helped to desegregate the county school system before there were court-ordered decrees and was ordained an elder in the Presbyterian Church. In 1960, Charles and his family relocated to Seattle where he joined the Seattle School District. During his time of service, he was the first TV teacher in this area doing the research, writing the script, and narrating a video series on WA state history, which became the most successful program of its kind produced by KCTS. He continued to be active in his church and community during his retirement and is survived by his wife, Ramy, sons Jefferson Katherine, Andrew Sine, Charles Renee and his six grandchildren. Services will be at the University Presbyterian Church , Friday Sept 5, at 2:30PM.
