Patricia Barney CORWIN Patricia Barney Corwin, age 84, passed away September 13. Pat (Patsy) Corwin was born in New Britain, CT in 1927, the fifth of eight children. She lived life joyfully. Friendly and outgoing, Pat made others feel at ease. With a wink and a smile, she brightened every room she entered. Purposeful and smart, her organized mind could tackle the most complex projects. She was busy, spirited and energetic, always positive and upbeat. Petite and powerful, her witty sense of humor charmed and challenged those who knew her. Her trademark response to the question, 'How are you?' was always 'I'm blessed!' We were all blessed to know and love her. She graduated valedictorian of Lincoln High School in Seattle in 1945 and was the first woman to graduate as a ceramic engineer from the University of Washington. It was there that she mether life-long love, Rudy, who preceded her in death in 2003, after 54 years of marriage. Pat balanced her career with parenting, raising eight children while working in their home business, Northwest Transducer. A progressive pioneer, Pat was a role model for working mothers. tsy was very spiritual, always nurturing her spiritual growth with Mass attendance, prayer, Bible study, Divine Mercy devotion, retreats and prayer meetings. She was passionate about her volunteer work with the Western Washington Catholic Charismatic Renewal, heading up the book ministry for over 20 years and staying active until her stroke in 2009. A devoted and faith-filled Catholic, Patsy was very active at St. Brendan's Parish where the community brought her muchjoy throughout her life. She was a founding member of the weekly charismatic prayer group there, along with Rudy, and their dear friends Marie and Earl Holzknecht. Pat is survived by a legacy of loving family: sister Isabelle Sheen and brother Terry Barney, Children: Chris (Marie) (CA); Lance (Sue); Regan (Susie); Kirk (Susie)(CA); Kim (Dave) Moody, Polly (John) Robbins (CT); Matt and Ellen (Aagaard). Son Brent preceded her in death. She is also survived by grand-children Matt J.(Erin), Eliot (Ashleigh), Patrick, Naomi, Rachel, Peter, Angela, Nick, Ben, Evan, Lucy, Kirk, Sylvie, Owen, Christina and great-granddaughter Camryn. Pat is also survived by (husband Rudy's) cousin Mary Karabaich, nephews Robert (Marilyn) Sheen (AZ) and Terry (Diane) Augerson and numerous other nieces and nephews. Patsy's family was precious to her, and she devoted much time and love to them. She was the most loving and supportive mother, high in expectations, gentle in judgment, accepting of all differences. Each and every one of her children was made to feel as if they were her favorite. A trusted and devoted colleague and friend, Pat belonged to a variety of groups. She was very fond of her years with The Lincoln High School Reunion Committee and she found great comfort in her Thursday Morning Prayer Group friends Maxine, Marie, Kathy and Francine. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to WWCCR (WWCCR.org).
