Marilyn Louise Ginther, 82, passed away on May 20, 2016 in Seattle, Washington, after a long struggle with cancer. She was born Marilyn Louise Harper on February 15, 1934 in East Orange, New Jersey to Donald and Florence Harper but spent much of her life in the Seattle area. She was known as Lynne to her closest friends. She attended University of Washington and earned a BA in English Literature in 1960. In her mid-twenties she moved temporarily to New York City and became active in the civil-rights movement there. Lynne moved back to Seattle in the 1980s where she married Fred Ginther and remained in the city for the last 30 years of her life. She attended St. Nectarios Orthodox Church in north Seattle for many years. She was a voracious reader, Dostoevsky being her favorite author. She was greatly troubled by the suffering of animals and contributed to many charities opposing animal abuse. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Don, and many aunts and uncles.
