hodist Men at the time of the merger of the E.U.B. Church and the Methodist Church. He was of member of the State Board of Laity. John also served his local church. He was a trustee and member of the Executive Board for many years. He was in charge of the remodeling of the church on Wilson Ave. He joined the choir at about 12-14 years of age. As an adult he became choir director, a position he held off and on for over 34 years. He was president of McCollough's Inc,. a manufacturing business originated by his grandfather, W.A. McCollough. He designed all of the products of the company for his lifetime and made many friends throughout the Midwest where their hog feeders, waterers and tanks were sold. He retired at the age of 73. John worked with the State Parole office for many years, providing work for men from the state penitentiary, giving them a new start in life. John and Leola believed in young people and helped many attend Westmar College through a scholarship fund they set up there. Following his wife's death in 2012, John returned to singing in the Faith United Methodist Church choir. He joined the Fort Dodge Barbershop Chorus. John also loved his fishing trips to Minnesota. Survivors are: daughter and son-in-law, Connie Sue and Jerry Haidle; son and daughter-in-law, Blaine and Bonnie McCollough, all of Webster City; grandchildren and spouses, Derek and Joy Haidle of Maple Grove, MN; Caren Rector, Claudia Haidle, Sara Haidle of Houston, TX; Tia and JD King of Pappillion, NE; Tara and Mark Todd of Staunton, VA; Sarah and Dion Grady of Johnston; Thea and Adam Wibholm of Williams; Clint Everett of Webster City; great-grandchildren, Alex and Olivia Haidle; McKenzie, Dakota and Kassi King; Henry and Sadie Todd; Tea and Alise Grady; Aspen, Dane, Sean and Sloane Wibholm; Cory Osbourne; Yu'neek McKnight and Nat McKnight. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Robert McCollough and a sister, Mary Donna McCollough. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Faith United Methodist Church.
