Mary Lou Acker

Mary Lou Shaw was born on Wednesday April 19, 1944 to Kenneth and Lucille Shaw. Mary Lou was the youngest child of 4. She had three older brothers (Charles, Tom and Dennis Shaw). The Shaw family came to Hollywood, Florida from Altoona, Pa in 1954. Mary Lou grew up in the Hollywood, Fl area and attended Colbert Elementary, McNicol Junior High and South Broward High School where she graduated in 1962. Mary Lou met Jamie Adams in high school and they married in 1964. They had 2 children Tiffany who is 48 and Travis who is now 46. Mary Lou and Jamie later divorced and Mary Lou married two more times. Once to David Valentine and another time to Bill Acker. Mary Lou later met her longtime companion, John Patterson in 2000 while attending a work convention in Dallas, Texas. Mary Lou was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2009 and was given a maximum of 2 years to live by 3 different doctors. Mary Lou attempted different forms of cancer treatment through the years and was able to sustain an additional 5 years for a total of 7 years of quality life with John, Tiffany, Travis and her one and only grandson Cody who is now 7.
