in Atlantic, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Kelly Marie and Michael James. The couple divorced in 1997. In July of 2004, while attending his 50th year class reunion, he reacquainted his friendship with fellow classmate Norma Charlene (Madison) Lorenz. They were married on February 12, 2005 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor. Throughout his work career, Elmer worked in sales, sales management and district management, traveling in the five state areas; Iowa, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota. He worked for Walnut Grove Products Inc in Atlantic, Iowa, Investors Diversified Services, Inc., was a manager at Port Cargill, Inc in Savage, Minnesota from 1975-1989; and worked in sales, profits & no account receivable from 1981-1986 at ConAgra Inc, NutraBasics Division in Omaha, Nebraska while living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His career miles driven in a company car was 2,600,000 miles without an accident. He worked for Feed Service Co, Inc. in Mankato, Minnesota and Hertz Rent-a-Car in Lakewood, Colorado and as a truck driver engineer. Elmer retired from the Oakland Farm Service Cooperative on June 21, 2006. Elmer was a lay minister for Roman Catholic Church and a lay minster to Roman Catholics residing in nursing homes in Greeley and Denver, Colorado. He received a lifetime award, Junior Chamber commerce (JC's). Elmer enjoyed Bible Studies, traveling by car and photography. He enjoyed golf, jogging, walking, baseball, soccer and basketball. Elmer passed away at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on November 3, 2016 at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 2 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl Voss, in infancy and Raymond Voss and wife Bonnie; sisters, Ella Holste and husband Harvey, Irene Milchaels and husband Ross, and Dorothy Murray; nephews, Wayne Voss and Larry Holste; and stepson Douglas Lorenz. Elmer is survived by his wife Norma Voss of Council Bluffs; daughter Kelly Wallander and husband Claude and their son Harrison, of Minneapolis, MN; son Michael Voss of Haiku, Maui, HI; stepdaughter Deb Forristall and husband Lowell of Carson, IA; stepson Gary Lorenz of Carson; five step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
