LEWIS (LEW) D. ASHLEY, 91 went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday February 29, 2016. Lew was born on May 31, 1924 in Corning, New York to Wellan and Anna (Estus) Ashley. Lew was survived by his best friend and wife Clarice (Crone) Ashely of 33 years. Daughter LaVon (John) Lindsey of Chittenango, NY. Also survived by two stepsons Alan (Sherry) Jones of Galivant Ferry, SC and Daniel (Karen) Jones of Sugar Hill, GA. There are six grandchildren and several great grandchildren also a loving family of sister-in-laws, Nancy (Charles) Thompson, Esther (Melvin) Kepner and Frances (William) Taylor all of Harbor Isles, North Port, Florida. Lew was preceded in death by his only son Keavin in 2008. Also, his brothers Earl and Leslie and his parents. Lew was an Industrial Engineer for the Ingersol Rand Company in Painted Post, NY for 23 years. Retiring from there he went to his own business doing design sales in his own company, �"Ashley Material Handling”. Lew was a member of the Good Shepherd Church of Englewood. ran as a Navy Air Pilot in World War II. Lew will be greatly missed by his immediate family and friends. Lew will be put to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors. Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
