Michael Patrick Simkins

Michael Patrick Simkins, Sr., 63, of Port Charlotte, Florida died January 6, 2011. He was born June 17, 1947 in Atlantic City, New Jersey to John F. and Mary M. (Winchester) Simkins. He was born and raised in New Jersey, then moving to Baltimore, Maryland where he worked in retail and later opened 5 retail businesses, Rice's Discount and 4 locations of Darlene's Gift Shops, in Ocean City, Maryland for 20 years. He served as a councilman in North Beach, Maryland in the early 1980's. He lived South Gulf Cove and was the owner of the "Queen Mary", a 41 foot party boat, which he enjoyed setting up crab events and party's for the South Gulf Cove homeowners and Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Darlene; his sons, Michael P. Simkins Miller of Maryland, James F. and Jeremy Simkins both of Florida, John Simkins of Virginia and Michael P. Simkins, Jr. of New Jersey; his daughter, Ann Simkins of New York; his brothers, Paul of Florida and Lou of Nevada; his sisters, Lori Lemieux and Judy Thomas both of New Jersey; 3 grandchildren, Abigail Miller, Korbin-Le Michael and Dylan Simkins; 3 step grandchildren, Sabrina Henry, Danny and David Christensen; he was predeceased ...[more]
