Walter Lawrence Buchholz, 73, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away May 21, 2007 after a plane crash in Ohio. He was born March 3, 1934 in Bronx, NY. Walter was an extrememly interesting, kind, and humorous individual with a long list of accomplishments and a passion for living. His life work was varied. He served in the Air Force, worked for "Ma Bell", owned, built, and administrated two large Nursing Homes for seventeen years in Milford, New Hampshire. He was also a Registered Nurse, flying briefly for an air-ambulance outfit that required he be certified as a commercial pilot. He was a single, multi, commercial and instrument rated pilot with over 4000 hours of flying experience. He also owned on separate ocassions two different Piper Cherokee Six airplanes. He worked part time at jobs he considered "fun" such as a police-officer in both California and New Hampshire. Co-workers considered him an "old fashioned" policeman. Walter had compassion on all humans and refused to ever handcuff a woman or an elderly person that he did not feel was a threat to others. Walter is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa Buchholz of Punta Gorda, FL; three children: Deborah Erickson of Rochester, MN; John Buchholz of Loma Linda, CA and Katrina Manchester of Englewood, FL; grandchildren; Michael, Matthew and David Keeney all of Rochester MN and Nickolaus Buchholz of Loma Linda, CA; Brothers; Henry Buchholz of North Yarmouth, Maine and Herman Buchholz of Avril Park, New York. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm, Friday, May, 25, 2007 at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A Memorial Service will be 4:00 pm, Saturday May 26, 2007 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2036 Loveland Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33980. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to; The Worthy Students Fund, in care of the Seventh Day Adventisit Church or to Habitat for Humanity at www.habitiatforhumanity.com
