Sylvia M. Marshall Bell Sylvia M. Marshall Bell, 83, of Punta Gorda, FL died May 24, 2007. She was born October 8, 1923 in Sturgis, KY to Herbert W. and Nina E. Hayes. She was raised in Dayton, Ohio, graduated Fairview High School in 1941. She attended both the University of Dayton and Miami University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Sylvia served in the US Navy during WWII as a WAVE. She was a link trainer teaching the soldiers how to fly with navigational equipment. While stationed at White Field, Pensacola, she married C.K Bud Marshall, who was serving in the US Air Force. She went on to become a systems analyst, computer programmer, civil service while traveling base to base with her husband of 28 years. In 1969 she and Bud retired to Port Charlotte. Locally, in Punta Gorda, she worked at the Post office for many years. She had also worked part time at Coffelts Candy Store and SS Rainbow Gifts at Fishermans Village. ar member of the American Legion Post 110. She is survived by her daughter, Jerry Rose Clay; sons, Martin H. Jean Marshall and Bruce K. Dara Marshall; grandchildren, Jennifer Alonzo Powell, Danielle Marshall, Joshua Sierra Marshall and Wesley Marshall; great grandchildren, Breanna Hubert, Dyanna, Leeya and Alonzo Powell; and a brother, Herbert W. Elizabeth Hayes. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. She was pre deceased by her husband, C.K Bud Marshall; her second husband, Thomas Bell and a brother, Carroll D. Hayes. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Inurnment will take place privately at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
