James R. Baker, 69, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007, surrounded by family and friends at his home. He was born November 17, 1937, at Lansdown, PA and moved to Port Charlotte in 1969. Jim was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather with many friends who cared for him dearly. Before moving to Florida, as a young man Jim did farming and then started his own construction company for many years. Jim was the founder, President, and CEO of J&J Enterprises, Inc. He was an avid boater and enjoyed traveling to NASCAR races throughout the country. He was a charter member of the Board of Directors at Tarpon Coast Bank. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jacquelynn, his parents, Ruel and Emma, brothers Harry and Robert. He is survived by his loving wife of four years, Susan J. Baker; son James Mary Anne Baker, Jr. of Cape Coral, daughter Donna L. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Friday June 15, 2007 at the Edgewater United Methodist Church, 19190 Cochran Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida 33948.
