Thomas H. Devine

Thomas Henry Devine, age 81, died at Tidewell Hospice on August 6, 2014, surrounded by his family. Thomas was born on July 25, 1933 to Michael and Irene Devine of Manawa, Wisconsin where they ran a dairy farm. He attended Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Spencerian College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1959. Thomas served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and received an honorable discharge. Thomas met Renee' Parenteau of Milwaukee, Wisconsin when they were both in high school, and they were married in 1956. Renee and Thomas gave birth to seven children. In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by daughters, Dawn MacGibbon of Punta Gorda, Mary Willis of Sherman, Texas, and sons Michael Devine of Port Charlotte, John Devine of Potomac, Maryland and Robert Devine of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Thomas is preceded in death by his son Joseph Devine and daughter Jeanine Callahan. He was also a managing partner for Touche Ross (now Deloitte Touche) in Kansas City, Missouri and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1980, he left Touche Ross to open his own public accounting firm in North Ft. Myers where he practiced until illness would not allow him to work in recent days. Thomas was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Thomas was known for his wise counsel and unceasing dedication to his clients. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda on Monday, August 11, 2014. Arrangements are by Kays-Ponger & Uselton.
