Maria R. Sutera

Maria R. Sutera, 75, of Port Charlotte, Fla., wife Anthony Sutera deceased, and daughter of now deceased Gaetano Monte and Concetta Pugliese of Newark, N.J., died Saturday, November 24th, 2007. Maria married Anthony in 1953, and they remained married until his death in 2003. She was a homemaker and loving mother to daughter Maria deceased and sons Anthony and Gary. She lived with her family in Cedar Grove, N.J. for over 30 years, where she was active in her community and church, Saint Catherine of Siena in Cedar Grove. She participated in Boy Scouts as a den mother, was a crossing guard, and a member of UNICO. She also worked in several retail stores part time. She retired to Port Charlotte with her husband in 1989, and lived there the rest of her life. She was active in the BPO Elks, Moose Lodge, and Railroad Association, and supported her husband. She was also a life member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, and participated in many fundraising events on their behalf. Her hobbies included bingo, ceramics, crocheting, dominoes, and cards. of Hillsborough, N.J., and Anthony of Jackson, N.J., her sister Grace Curto of Hopelawn, N.J., son-in-law Bill of Gardner, N.Y., daughters-in-law Eileen and Suzanne, and grandchildren William, Victoria, and Jack. Her family is extremely proud of her strength, resilience, and ability to live life to its fullest. She continually demonstrated an ability to make friends and display a positive outlook and demeanor, whatever the situation. She was an inspiration and will be dearly missed.
