He moved to the Englewood area 33 years ago from Long Island, New York. He was a general contractor, builder and developer in New York and in Florida. He served proudly in World War II and in Korea. He was in the Army and in the Air Force. He belonged to the American Legion Post 113, Moose Lodge Englewood 1933, Rotonda Community Church choir, the Suncoast Ontario, the Long Island Home Builders Association, the Fiesta Club and the Sons of Norway. He is survived by his sons, Donald B. Paulsen, Sr., and Douglas H. Paulsen, both of which live in Englewood, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Douglas is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Mary Joy Paulsen, and three sons, Jack Paulsen, George Paulsen, and Richard Paulsen. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. both at Lemon Bay Funeral Home Englewood Chapel.
