James Cook

James L. Cook, 75, of Port Charlotte, FL died Friday April 25, 2008 peacefully at his home. He was born October 12, 1932 in Mandeville, WV and he and his family moved to Punta Gorda Nov. 1956 from Beckley, WV. James retired August 1, 1990 after 30 years with the United States Post Office. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda. After retiring, James enjoyed leatherwork, photography and oil painting. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doreen A. Cook of Port Charlotte, daughters, Pat Cook of Port Charlotte, Lynn Glenn Jones of Leesburg, FL; Sharon Pahl of Orlando, FL and Sheila McCaffrey of Minneola, FL; brothers, Jerry Gail Cook of Coos Bay, OR and Jack Joanne Cook of Blairsville, GA; sister, Janet Cook of Port Charlotte; grandchildren, Glenn Jones Jr, Jaime Jones, Alex and Kelly McCaffrey. Visitation will be 10:00 am till 11:00 am, Tuesday April 29, 2008 at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Pt Charlotte, FL. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor David Schumacher officiating. Burial will be at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
