Barbara Sample

Barbara Dean Sample, 71, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 after an extended illness. She was a retired postal worker, beloved mother and grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had the honor of being the first female rural letter carrier in Johnson County, Indiana. She is survived by her four children; Sherry L. Ray Chester of Indianapolis, IN; Stephen J. Curtis of Arcadia, FL; Elizabeth A. Daniel Stone of Deltona, FL and Kimberly A. Jerry Simes of Port Charlotte, FL; nine grandchildren; Amy, Christina, Shelby, Zachary, Matthew, Michael, Dalton, Amanda and Megan Joy; two great grandchildren, Cole and Emma; a brother George E. Futrell of Hopkinsville, KY; sister, Brenda J. Groves of Lexington, KY; and brother- in-law Raul Gamez of Hopkinsville, KY; Her husband Marvin R. Sample and a sister Doris E. Gamez preceded her in death. A Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1:00 pm, Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Kays, Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL with interment at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
