Joseph D. Haynes Joseph D. Haynes, 78, of Punta Gorda, FL died January 20, 2009. He was born July 26, 1930 in Lacy Springs, AL and moved to this area in 1958 from Tracy City, TN. He was a heavy equipment operator for General Development, retiring in the early 70's. Joe refused to retire, and continued working as a roofer, a private auto dealer, he was a "jack of all trades". He worked for 10 years as a pest control technician for Charlotte County Utilities. Joe was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Haynes of Punta Gorda, FL; daughters, Sharon John Himmel of Olympia, WA; Carol Watson of NC; Carrie Robert Fitch of Tampa, FL; sons, Jeff Cindy Haynes of Orlando, FL; Joseph Judy Haynes, II of Punta Gorda, FL and Denis Carmody of Lincoln, ME; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Animal Welfare League, 3519 Drance Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33980. [more]
