Irma Granata, 86, passed away on Feb. 8th, 2009 at Consulate Health Care in Port Charlotte where she resided. Irma was born May 20, 1922 in the free city of Danzig, Germany and became a U.S. Citizen in 1931 accompanied by her father. Irma and her husband Frank, her high school sweetheart, lived in New Hyde Park, NY with their 4 daughters. They moved to Granite Springs, NY where they lived for 12 yrs. before moving to Englewood, FL in 1978. Irma was a homemake and later in her life worked in the Somers Tax Receivers Office in Somers, NY and retired from Barnett Bank in Sarasota, FL as a Customer Service Information Specialist. Irma had a love for music, was a "good cooker", had a passion for knowledge, enjoyed reading and spending time with her loving family. As a young girl Irma's talents excelled in both gymnastics and swimming. She is preceded in death by both her loving husband Frank who passed in 1985 and son-in-law Charles P. Alletto in 1993. L., as well as 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Alletto, Charles N. Alletto, Julianne Alletto Bran, Nicole Guarnera, Travis Viertel, Thomas Viertel, David Viertel, Christopher Slattery, Michael Slattery, and 5 great grandchildren, Shawna Slattery, Kiersten Slattery, Rylan Slattery, Aedan Bran, and Lola Bran. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thurs. Feb. 12 at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel. Funeral mass is 10 a.m. Friday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, Englewood. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the American Heart Association, 11207 Blue Heron Blvd., North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33716 or the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231.
