Richard Joseph Ramsey

Richard Joseph Ramsey, 78, of Punta Gorda, Fl., formerly from Cahokia, IL, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte. He was born July 9, 1935 in Struthers, Ohio to Oscar and Mayme Ramsey. Richard served and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who was a pillar of strength for his family. He was a well-known guitar player/teacher who also enjoyed playing golf and he loved his pets. Surviving are his three children, Richard Ramsey of Las Vegas, NEV., Terry (Michael Hodges) Ramsey of St. Libory, IL., Sandra Ramsey of O'Fallon, IL., longtime companion Mary Perry of Port Charlotte, FL., great-grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joan Ramsey, and two brothers Jim Ramsey and John Ramsey. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Richard may be made to the local animal rescue shelters. [more]
