James E. Carroll, age 86, passed away on May 1, 2009 at his home in Punta Gorda, Fl. He was born May 23, 1922 in Syracuse, NY. Jim attended Most Holy Rosary High School, where he met his wife of 66 years, Jane Clary; and starred as a guard on the basketball team. Jim served in WWII in the United States Air Force, as a B-17 pilot accomplishing 35 missions in Europe. After the war he worked at the Veterans Department while attending Syracuse University in the evenings. Upon graduation from college, Jim joined the F.B.I and had a distinguished career until 1972, when he retired. He then joined the faculty of Montgomery Community College in Blue Bell, PA teaching criminal justice for 10 years, eventually retiring in 1982 to Punta Gorda, FL.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda, FL, where he served as an usher for many years. Jim could often be found at Twin Isles C.C., enjoying a round of golf.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Jane Carroll; daughter, Tricia Collins; son, Marty Carroll; sister, Anne Romano; brother, Tom Carroll; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was loved by all.
