Mr. Baker served as a delegate to the Northern Cities Commission in Aomori, Japan with the Mayor of Anchorage, Alaska, was a delegate with the Sister Cities Commission in Alaska, was a commissioner on the Anchorage Memorial Park Board, an ambassador for the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, a charter board member of the AFSCME Retirees as well as several other worthy organizations. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Coalition of American Veterans, the Elks Lodge # 1351, the Ambassadors Club, the Alaska World Affairs Council, the ARCA, Phi Delta Kappa, the National Assoc of Elementary Principals, National Education Assoc, Pioneers of Alaska and the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. He moved to Pt Charlotte in 2004 from Anchorage, AK. In 2009, he was included in the 2009-2010 Honor's Edition of the Cambridge Who's Who Registry. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jean Baker; his children, Janis and Gary Baker; brother, Floyd Shirley Baker and sister, Shirlene Ron Fuller; six grandchildren. He was pre deceased by his son, Kenneth, his parents, a brother, Lanier and sister, Mary Catherine.
