Ronald P. Lindskog, 70, of Punta Gorda, FL peacefully passed away May 18, 2013 after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He was born September 20, 1942 in Chicago, IL, the son of Harry and Alice (nee Filice) Lindskog. Ron served in the US Army during the Vietnam War 1967/1968. He began his career in Law Enforcement with the Oak Lawn Police Dept. in Oak Lawn, IL in 1969. Ron worked his way through the ranks to Division Chief and retired in 2003 after 34 years of service. In 2005, he and his wife Joan relocated to Punta Gorda, FL. Ron was a member of the IL Police Association, the Oak Lawn Elks, DAV Chapter 82, Port Charlotte, FL; the American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda; the Veteran Motor Car Club and a past member of the Charlotte County Corvette Club. He is survived by his beloved wife and caregiver, Joan Lindskog; sons, Ronald Mestauskas of Kyle, TX; Eric Lindskog of Powers Lake, WI and Marc Lindskog of Chicago, IL; step-son, Daniel (Lauren) Anders of Waukegan, IL; daughters, Laura (Fred) Finley of Lowell, IN; Catherine and Kiera Lindskog, both of Chicago, IL; brothers, Gerald (Margie) and Joseph (Cheryl) Lindskog of IL; sisters, Carol May of Joliet, IL...[more]

harlotte Lindskog and Barbara (Scott) Parisi of IL; mother-in-law, Gertrude Darrah of Punta Gorda, FL; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till 12 noon, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in memory of Ron be made to the ALS Association FL Chapter at www.webfl.alsa.org.
