Dan F. Sullivan, of Keokuk, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Donnellson Health Center. He was born September 28, 1937, in San Jose, California, to Dan F. and Margaret Callahan Sullivan. He first married Mary McKenzie and later Judy Stanton.
He served seven years in the U. S. Army, stationed in Korea, Vietnam, and other countries, ending his military career at the Pentagon. He was selected as a member of the military Honor Guard at President John F. Kennedy's inauguration.
He was an avid reader and world traveler and was very knowledgeable about U. S. and world history, mythology, and mathematics. He enjoyed sports and creating children's stories.
Dan is survived by his second wife, Judy, son, Michael Sullivan and his wife, Elise Kooistra-Sullivan of Bondurant, Iowa, daughters Gina and Sherry of California, grandchildren, Holden and Meara Sullivan of Bondurant, Alice, Ashley, and Andrew Esparcia of California, sister, Margaret Birdsell, of Carson City, Nevada, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Robert Clements of San Jose.
Per his wishes, there will be no service.
