e married Rose Marie Rollins on August 20, 1960, in Muscatine, and they later divorced. He worked for McKee Button Company as a button polisher. He also worked for DOT doing bridge work for eight years. He also worked for CDS as well. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. He was a lifelong NRA member and was an avid firearm enthusiast. He wrote short stories. Those left to honor his memory include three sons, Aaron Salek of Muscatine, Christopher Salek of Ames, and Erik Salek and wife, Christy, of Keota; two daughters, Bethanne Todd and husband, Roscoe, of Muscatine, and Dianne Smith and husband, James 'JD', of Fruitland; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Daryl Salek and wife, Teresa, of Muscatine; one aunt, Pearl Salek of Muscatine; a close cousin, Bob Babbitt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
