Rotary Club, the Elks Club, the Keokuk Catholic School Board, the Keokuk Water Works Board, and as a Keokuk Area Hospital volunteer. John is survived by his sons Joe (Norma) Beaird of Miami, Florida; and Mark (Lara) Beaird of Williamsburg, Virginia; his daughters Kathy Black of Keokuk and Mary (Mike) Parrish of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his daughter-in-law Bambi Beaird of St. Louis, Missouri; and his sister Mary (Charlie) Welsh. Other survivors include seven grandchildren: Chris (Larissa) Black of Quincy, Illinois; Meg (Richard) Black of Keokuk, Iowa; Caitlin Beaird of Kansas City, Missouri; John Beaird III of St. Louis, Missouri; Joseph Beaird of Miami, Florida; Kathleen Parrish of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Grace Parrish of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents, wife Catherine, infant son Frank, son Jack, and four brothers: Floyd "Tiny" Beaird, Donald Beaird, Wayne Beaird and Joseph Fichtenkort. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of All Saints, Keokuk Catholic Schools, HCI Hospice, and the Keokuk Community Foundation. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Church of All Saints in Keokuk. Visitation will be held directly before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers at 917 Blondeau Street. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at River Hills Village and HCI Hospice for their kindness and care towards John during his Illness.
