Returning to the United States in 1974, Sister Annette worked first in her hometown of Johnstown and then at Booth Maternity Center in Philadelphia. She also served as Public Health Nursing Supervisor of the Allegheny County-Covington and Clifton Forge Health Departments in Covington, Virginia. Sister Annette moved to the Southwest in 1981 and was involved in overall administration for a University of Arizona-New Mexico Child Health Project on the Navajo Indian Reservation. In 1983 she moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she served as a nurse-midwife at the Dona Ana Public Health Office. Later, Sister Annette worked at the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces as a staff nurse. A Certified Master Gardener, she was passionate about the environment. She received her Wildlife Science Degree from New Mexico State University in 1994. In 2013 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the United States Bureau of Land Management for her volunteer work at Dripping Springs Natural Area. Her nomination included these words, "Annette's sweet laugh and bright eyes convey her enthusiasm as a lifelong learner who delights in imparting her knowledge to others." Philadelphia became her home once again in 2016 and she lived there until her death. Sister Annette is survived by a brother, John J. Froehlich, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a sister, Mary Grace (Kenne) Froehlich, M.M.S., of Philadelphia, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
