Leroy Meyer

Leroy Meyer, 77, of Newcastle, NE passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Maskell, NE with Rev. Chad Beckius officiating. Burial will be in the Maskell Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE. Leroy was born on January 26, 1940 in the Hubbard area of Dakota County. He was the son of Lloyd and Rose (Schwarz) Meyer. Leroy was raised in the Newcastle area where he graduated from Newcastle High School. He farmed in Newcastle for several years. In 1965 he married Sharon Bishop. They farmed north of Newcastle where they raised 3 boys. Sharon passed away in 1990. Leroy went to work at the Dixon County Courthouse and became County Treasurer in 1995. He retired from that position in 2012. In 1995 Leroy married Helen Reynolds Green. They lived in Newcastle until his death.
