Patricia Wardwell Rophel, age 93, of Lower Gwynedd, PA, and formerly of Glenside, PA, died after a long fight with COPD surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Born in Fargo, ND, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and the late Susannah (nee McCartan) Wardwell. She graduated from University of Minnesota and then attended Columbia University where she received a Masters Degree in Social Work.
Upon graduating from Columbia, she worked at the Child Guidance Clinic in Tacoma, WA and went on to work as a psychiatric social worker at the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, KS. She moved east to work for Family Services of Philadelphia and met her husband, the late David M. Rophel. After raising her daughters, she returned to work doing geriatric outreach for Abington Hospital and Northwest Management Corp.
Pat loved reading, classical music, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be missed by many.
