Haolrd Olthoff, age 85, of Buffalo Center died Monday May 28th at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday June 1 at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Deb Devine officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening 5-7 PM at Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center and 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Harold Edward Olthoff was born March 4, 1927 to Henry and Etta (Ennen) Olthoff in Lakota, IA. He grew up and went to country school near Lakota. In 1951, Harold entered the United States Army where he served his country proudly in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to the United States, Harold married Virginia Gilbert on September 13, 1953. From this union they were blessed with three children. Harold then farmed for 47 years near Lakota before retiring and moving to Buffalo Center. Harold was a member of the Lakota Legion Post #652 and the Buffalo Center VFW. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church. Harold loved going to flea markets as a vendor, hosting garage sales and fishing. nk (Terry) of Shell Rock, IA, son; Daryl Olthoff of Ft. Stewart, GA and one granddaughter; Malinda Olthoff. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Gary, one brother and two sisters.
