Willis was a stand out in basketball graduating in 1954. He entered the United States Navy in May 28, 1955. He was employed for several years at the West Point Peabody Mill and George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Langdale, Alabama. Willis always worked two jobs until his retirement. Rev. Williams graduated with an Associates Degree in Bible from the Great Commission Bible College. He was united in Holy Matrimony forty-nine years to Arvella Winston Williams and through that union four children were born. He was proceeded in death by his (father), Joe Williams, Sr., (mother), Isabella K. Williams, (brother), Arthur L. Williams and (nephew) Rev. Dr. Erwin Ward. He leaves a legacy to cherish his memories: A devoted wife, Arvella (Winston) Williams of 49 years, from Alexander City AL.; Three sons, Kenneth L. (Louise) Williams, Hampton, VA, Dr. John F. (Tinette) Williams, Atlanta, GA, Dr. Roderick W. (Carrie) Williams, Alexander City, AL; One daughter, Bettye Jean Williams, Bakersfield, CA.
