James A. Getter

James Allen Getter (Jimmy) passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 in Kingston, NY. Jimmy graduated from Beacon High School and served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the branch of the Army and the Army Reserves. He served as a first responder to assist with the cleanup of the twin towers after 9/11. He was employed at Multi County Community Development Corp. in Saugerties, New York for 15 years until he became ill. He was a trooper while dealing with the illness for several years before answering the call of God to rest from the trials and troubles of this world. He was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was as a servant in the Men's Choir and Men's Ministry. Through the pain and sickness, he always blessed the name of the Lord with praises and thanks for his goodness toward him. His favorite ending of each text was "ur my shining star!!" He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie May King and Arthur Simon Getter, one sister, Gloria Jean Allison, and one brother, Arthur John Getter.
