We often mark the beginning and end of a person’s life with dates, born July, 24 1927 – April 21, 2017. But as anyone knows, neither Harold’s life, nor anyone else’s for that matter, can be measured by the dates. It is the “dash” between the dates, it is what happens between a person’s birth and death that is the measure of the person. It is what Harold did between those dates that is the true measure of who he is and was. His life, so full of life’s events and family, had several dashes. An obituary cannot tell the story of a person’s life, it cannot tell the story of Harold’s life. For those who knew him, who loved him, who were blessed to meet him, may we always remember to go make memories, so that when we sit back and think about them we smile for those moments, much like Harold did, between the dashes.
