rk to Hollywood. Due to her Italian lineage, Sandy liked two things best, to cook and to worry. And in true Italian-mother style when she cooked, she cooked big. Her spaghetti or platters of eggplant couldn't be beat and on very special occasions her recipe for cheesecake was amazing. When her husband or sons were sick a large pot of her homemade chicken soup could cure almost anything. Sandy worked for many years in both elementary and middle schools and her "kids" as she liked to call her students adored her warm and spirited ways. When she could still see well enough, Sandy loved to read and would devour book after book along with her other favorite, Hershey's chocolate bars. In better days she was always up to travel either on many road trips or even to Paris once in First Class on Pan Am. Sarah, Sandy, Mom, Mother, Mama, Grandma and all of the things that made her, will be missed terribly by her family. Sarah's 81+ years on this earth have ended but we take comfort that she has now passed all of the pain of her illness and will join her loving husband in perpetual peace. She who gave us life, we love from the bottom of our very hearts. Sarah will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Lawrence Heffernan, Sr; on Thursday, May 18th at Twelve Noon with a Catholic Prayer Service at St. Joseph Cemetery, Middletown, New York.
