Dawayne DeBerg, 87, of Bristow, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa.
He was born on June 22, 1929, to Claus and Cornelia (Harken) DeBerg. Dawayne was married to Delores Hahn on November 27, 1950, in Bristow.
He served in the National Guard. Dawayne worked as a carpenter, farmer and truck driver. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Bristow and served on many church boards. Dawayne also served on the Allison-Bristow School board. He enjoyed his grandchildren visiting the farm, tinkering with tractors and telling a story to anyone who would listen.
Dawayne is survived by his daughter Pam (Dave) Benson of Anamosa, son Kevin DeBerg of Reinbeck, son Kent (Terri) DeBerg of Indianola, son Brent (Brenda) DeBerg of Bristow, daughter Stacy Harms of Reinbeck, brother Willard (Darlene) DeBerg, brother Newlyn (Pat) DeBerg, sister Norrell (Merle) Uhlenhopp, brother Terrill (Shirley) DeBerg, brother Trenton (Sharryl) DeBerg, sister Corliss (Marvin) Ellingson, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Delores and parents Claus and Cornelia.[more]
