James H. Barker, 78, Indianapolis, passed away on May 25, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Blanchester, Ohio on February 10, 1939 to the late William and Willie Mae (Ray) Barker. Jim attended Murray State University in Kentucky where he studied music and he met his wife of 57 years, Ida May Guenther.
Jim enjoyed music and was a music director before becoming a Property Insurance adjuster. He also was an amateur photographer, pilot, airplane enthusiast, and ham radio operator.
Jim will be missed by many family and friends. He leaves behind his dear wife, Ida May Barker; 2 daughters, Kathy (Mark) Flanigan and Raye Ann (Drew) McDole; 5 grandchildren, Cindy (Brandon) Waterbury, Laura Flanigan, Katye McDole, Sara McDole, and Chris McDole; 4 great grandchildren, Norah Waterbury, Victoria Waterbury, Desmond Echeverria, Damen Echeverria; Sister, Ann McNally; and nephews, David, Eddie, Bruce Burgess, Johnny McNally, and Jerry Barker.
Jim is preceded in death by his son, William "Bill" Barker and his brother Eugene Barker.

ay, May 30th from noon to 1:00 with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Jim will be laid to rest at Union Chapel Cemetery immediately following.
