Suryakant Manibhai Patel

Suryakant Minibhai Patel, respected physician and beloved grandfather, died June 3, 2017 surrounded by family members in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He has been a resident of South Florida for the past 15 years. Suryakant was born in Soroti, Uganda on August 20, 1940. He attended medical school in Nagpur, India where he met his wife Saria. After medical training in Scotland, he settled and practiced medicine in Webster, MA. When not caring for his patients, Surya loved to spend his leisure time on the golf course. Surya also traveled extensively with his many friends and family members. He was an active supporter of Nichols College in Dudley, MA where he served as a school physician and later as a trustee. He also dedicated much time and energy on the Board of Directors of the Commerce Group Insurance Company in Webster. Family and friends could always count on Surya's wise words and sound advise. He was a mentor to many. In addition, Surya was a generous philanthropist who supported many different organizations and causes important to him, his family and his friends.
