Bill resided in rural Coin, Iowa, with his brother Rob Henderson for the past two years and loved to help with the horses. The stud horse Boone reacted with joy whenever Bill approached his coral. On Easter Sunday of this year, Bill experienced a "first" by assisting with the birth of a filly, aptly named Billie Jean in honor of their paternal grandmother and him; this little filly was Rob's last gift to his brother. Bill was preceded in death by his mother Vida (Henderson) Williams, his maternal grandparents Fred and Nettie Smith all of Coin, Iowa, as well as his paternal grandparents Robert and Ethel (Jean) Henderson of Northboro, Iowa. Also preceding him in death was his uncle Ed Smith of Clarinda. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved bird dog Maggie, his father Jim Henderson (Cindy), and brothers Rick Henderson (Robin) of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Rob Henderson (Tiffany Pease), and his sister Jaime Graham (Heath) of Shenandoah. Bill has four children - Matt, Brad, Chelsey, and Ashley and eight grandchildren. Bill's nephews are Michael Henderson and Cole and Jake Graham, all of Shenandoah. His nieces include Jill Stevenson (Daniel) and Jackie Pease (Darin) also of Shenandoah. Bill's aunts and uncles include Becky Parmenter (Doyle), Ina Nelson (Lyle Jr.), Sharon Smith, and Carol Von Eschen (Del). He is also survived by cousins Tiffany (Parmenter) Bayless (Dave), Stephanie (Parmenter) Dudley (Mark), Amy (Parmenter) Fihr (Grant), Traci (Nelson) Regan (Andy), Eric Nelson (Molly), Raymond Smith (Jerilyn), and Diana Bright (Bill). Also surviving are great-nephews Wyatt and Will Stevenson and great-niece Tori Pease, all of Shenandoah. Other special relatives in his life include Linda Henderson and Dennis Williams and their respective extended families. His special friends were Kris Grebert, Adam Miller, Gary Moody, Mike Shepard, and Jeff Whitlock. Bill treasured each day for the past seven years, even as he endured various procedures and times of pain and discomfort. His advice to family and friends would be to make the most of each and every day. The lyrics of his favorite song "Spirit in the Sky" are his parting words to all who knew and loved him. Celebration of life memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Burial of cremains will be held at the Union Grove Cemetery in Northboro with military rites by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 88 Color Guard. Memorials may be directed to the family.
