Osweiler, was born July 5, 1926, in rural Keokuk County, Iowa, a son of John and Mae (Webb) Osweiler. He was a graduate of Kinross High School. He served in WWII, as a MP. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Lou Bickford, on February 19, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in North English. He enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, crossword puzzles, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and sports especially the Chicago White Sox. Bob died on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, following a long illness, at the age of 83 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marilyn; a daughter Rhonda Osweiler; 5 brothers: Edward, Paul, Dan, Joe and Mervin; and a sister Marcella Osweiler in infancy. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2009, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Fr. Joseph Roost and Fr. David Wilkening will preside. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 PM on Sunday, with a prayer service at 4pm, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English.
