He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1968 and later received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Iowa. On December 2, 1978 he was united in marriage to Joette Yoder at the Wellman Mennonite Church. Dave has lived in the Wellman and Kalona communities all of his life. He worked at Yoder-Feeds, then was an insurance agent with Farm Bureau and was currently working for Menno Services in Kalona. Dave was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church, where he served on the church council and had been an elder. He had served on the Kalona city council and the Pleasantview Home board. is survived by his wife Joette of Kalona; a daughter Kimberly Leaton and husband Winson of Wellman; a son Derrick Droz of North Liberty; his mother Madonna Droz of Wellman; and a sister Michele Tyler of Wellman. He was preceded in death by his father. Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman. Rev. Marvin Hochstetler will officiate. Burial will be Sunday, in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 am - 8:00 pm with the family present from 1-3 & 6-8, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice or the Wellman Mennonite Church.
